![]() ![]() Yes, they can overindulge or grab more than they need, but modern communist thought generally doesn't demand people ONLY take as much as they need, but rather that everyone gets what they need at a minimum regardless of how much they are capable of producing. A person who hauls goods has the same power of acquisition as a master craftsman as a doctor as a soldier. Anyone can come get these goods and use them as they desire, regardless of what they actually produce for the society. Dwarves produce goods according to what the community (the player) determines it needs. The player acts as the community decision makers, determining what it is the community needs and then the community goes to work producing it as they can. The player IS a mysterious force, mostly as an abstraction of the type of self-organization that would occur in a true communist society. Your fortress is fairly communist, though. Also, the dwarven civilization clearly doesn't function as such, because your caravans aren't actually supply caravans who pick up the excess your fortress makes and gives you whatever it is your fortress needs with no expectation of "fair" recompense. It wasn't when the economy was on many years ago (dwarves would sell goods to each other, have to pay rent for rooms, with better rooms costing more, and nobles paying nothing). If it was, it would clearly no longer be communist in any sense. Well, yes, it's obviously gamey and not fully fleshed out. ![]() Kitfox Discord #modding-discussion channelīronzemurder and Oilfurnace (illustrated) A three step guide:ĭownload DF Classic or install the premium version from Steam or Itch.ioįollow the quickstart guide on the wiki, or see other learning resources (below)Īsk any questions in the ☼Bi-weekly DF Questions Thread☼ - it's always active See the reasons for our rules here, and please report any problems!ĭF can be intimidating, but we're dedicated to helping new players.
